Commonly, there are a total of 8 copy positions used with the various models of label applicator machines. These 8 copy positions can be broken down into two groups of four based on whether they are wound out or wound in. These two groups simply refer to how the reel of labels was originally rolled. Wound out refers to the reel being rolled with the label facing outward, while wound in signifies the reel being rolled with the label facing inward or on itself.
