The VersaLine dual 3-Roller Indexing System applies multiple labels to a product
requiring specific label placement. This particular system is configured with
three Q60 label applicators, one to label the top of the product and two responsible
for side application utilizing our 3-Roller Indexing stations.
A stop gate releases one product at a time into the first 3-Roller Indexing module.
The 3-Roller module captures the product between the product rotation wheel and the
product capture wheels. As the product rotates in the module, a reference sensor locates
the seam on the container. Once the position is known, a programmable logic controller
signals the labeling head to dispense and label in the correct position. The label is
applied and impressed by the product rotation wheel. The product is released and the process
is repeated for a second label applied to the opposite side of the product. A top label is
applied by the top-mounted label applicator.
The electronics package includes a PLC with touch screen which controls the indexing and
orientation function of the 3-Roller Indexing modules. Three independent M2 microprocessors
control the labeling head functions.
